Hot Frosty 2024 (Hot or Not?)

Netflix has been trying to eat away at Hallmark’s monopoly on horrible rom-coms for years. Basically making the same style of cheap, rushed films, but with maybe one or two self aware jokes. The problem is these Netflix films are completely indiscernible from their Hallmark counterparts and their attempts to improve the genre are petty and fleeting. Almost like Netflix is saying, “Hey, we know this are silly and bad. Isn’t it funny how we know that?” No, no it’s not Netflix. It’s only funny if you know that and then choose to do something about it.

Hot Frosty Video Review

When I first saw the poster for Hot Frosty I had real hope that Netflix had turned the corner. With such a ridiculous premise you would expect Hot Frosty to be a fun loving comedy that’s willing to make some silly choices while being self aware.

This looks like a fake movie poster in an Adam Sandler movie.

Unfortunately, the funniest part of Hot Frosty is the premise. The execution and writing are the same as any other Hallmark quality film. I laughed less during the entire runtime of the film, than I did just ready this plot synopsis:

Widow Kathy magically brings a snowman to life. His innocence helps her heal and find love again. They bond before the holidays, but he's doomed to melt.

Come on, that should be comedy gold! While it does have some fun parts, overall it’s a slog to sit through and really missed out on a great opportunity. Watch our full review and commentary on Hot Frosty by checking out the video above.
